Greece Raises Minimum Wage to €650 - January 30, 2019

Greece’s prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, announced the first increase in the country’s minimum wage in nearly a decade. 

The standard monthly minimum wage would rise  from current €586 to €650. The government will also abolish the ”sub-minimum” wage which was paid to those under the age of 25. In percentage points, the under-25s will see their wages rise by 27.5 % and while the rest will receive an 11 %  increase.

The new wage will come into effect on February 1, 2019.
