Austria - New agreement for hotels and catering - April 30, 2024
In the hotel and catering industry a new two-years framework collective agreement cam into force on 1 May. The WKÖ trade associations and the union vida presented this at a press conference. The agreement aims to address the severe labour shortage in the industry through better wages and working conditions. In 2024, the average wage increase in the industry will be 8%. This will happen in two steps: an increase of 6% on 1 May and a further 2% in November. In 2025, the wage will be increased by this year's annual inflation plus 1%. There will also be a minimum wage of € 2,000 gross from May 2025.
