Austria - Deterioration of collective agreement due to takeover - September 30, 2024

The takeover of the Vamed Group (hospitals) by private equity firm PAI Partners may lead to worse terms of employment for some employees. Several employees turned to the the trade union vida and the works councils with concerns that they would be covered by a collective agreement that is less favourable for them in the future. The chairman of the health department of vida said it is clear that the announced deteriorations are just the beginning. Around 80 employees would be affected by the changed collective agreement classification. The change could mean that their working hours would increase from 38 to 40 hours per week - and on top of that, their salary would be 10% lower. The employees will also not benefit from future wage increases due to the new rules.
